Who is it for?
The course is aimed at those that will be involved in the recruitment, management, or termination of employment of staff on fixed term contracts. This could include Governors, Trustees, members of SLT, SBMs, or HR staff.
Intended Outcomes
This course will provide an overview of the best practice use of fixed term contracts in the education sector. At the end of course participants will understand:
- What fixed term contracts are and when they should and should not be used;
- The potential pitfalls in using fixed term contracts;
- The obligation on both the employee and the school during a fixed term contract;
- The key terms and provisions that should be included in a fixed term contract;
- How to and the implications of renewing or extending a fixed term contract;
- How to manage concerns in regard to performance, disciplinary, or sickness during a fixed term contract;
- The best practice steps in terminating a fixed term contracts; and
- The implication of the Modification Order on ending fixed term contracts.
Cost
- The session is charged at £140 plus VAT per person, with a minimum of 5 participants . Discounts for Employment Law and HR clients apply. Where the session is to be delivered on site, reasonable travel expenses will be charged in addition to the session cost.
