SEND Support Service for schools and academy trusts
Strategic SEND provision - empowering leaders and improving pupil outcomes
The demands on schools to manage EHCP applications and processes, meet statutory requirements, ensure funding is allocated appropriately and train staff effectively are challenging to balance, especially alongside the additional pressures of the day-to-day running of the school.
However, there are ways these can be made easier, which is why we’ve designed a SEND Support Service. Our team helps your school deliver outstanding SEND provision that’s inclusive, impactful and works for everyone in your school community.
We partner with schools and Academy Trusts to provide advice and guidance, ensure compliance and give your staff the tools and confidence they need to support pupils with SEND effectively.

An EHCP stands for Education, Health and Care Plan. It is a legally binding document provided to children and young people with significant special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The EHCP outlines the specific educational, health, and social care support required to meet those needs.
To start the EHCP application process, you should first speak with your child's SENCO / SENDCO at their school. They will guide you through the steps outlined in the SEND code of practice. You can also request an assessment directly from your local authority. When thinking about an EHCP plan to include external professionals.
The SEND Code of Practice is a statutory guidance document that outlines the responsibilities of schools and local authorities in supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. It ensures that all children with SEND, including those with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, receive the support they require.
An EHCP should include detailed information about the child or young person's needs, the specific support they require, and the outcomes they are expected to achieve. The plan is tailored to the individual and should reflect the guidelines set out in the SEN code of practice. It is the responsibility of the SENCO / SENDCO to ensure that the child's educational needs are met.
The SENCO / SENDCO is the Special Educational Needs (and Disabilities) Coordinator at a school. The SENCO is responsible for overseeing the provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring that they receive the appropriate support as outlined in their EHCP.
SEMH stands for Social, Emotional and Mental Health. It is a type of special educational need. Children with SEMH may find it difficult to manage and communicate their emotions, have difficulties maintaining positive relationships or be experiencing poor mental health. Some schools, particularly SEMH schools, are well-equipped to provide specialised support to students with SEMH needs as part of their EHCP.
