Practical Considerations for Grievances for School Leaders
Who is it for?
This course is aimed at members of the Governing Body or trustees, SLT, SBMs, HR team members and line managers that may be involved in managing or overseeing a grievance process.
Intended Outcomes
This course provides practical guidance for governors, trustees or managers, that may be involved in the management of a grievance process, on the most common, but difficult grievances to manage. At the end of the course participants will:
- Understand the elements of an effective grievance process;
- Understand and be able to identify when grievances are being used as a weapon by employees, and to know how to deal with these situations;
- Know how to deal with grievances from ex-employees;
- Understand how to conduct a grievance process if the grievance bringer is absent due to ill health;
- Know how to deal with clashing grievances from two or more employees;
- Understand how to balance the conflicting rights of employees when considering a grievance; and
- Understand the right to be accompanied.
Cost

The cost of this session starts at £995 plus VAT for up to 20 participants for clients of the Employment Law & HR Service. Each additional participant will be charged at £55 plus VAT per head. Where the session is to be delivered on site, in person, reasonable travel expenses will be charged in addition to the session cost.
