Course Overview:
This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge to understand the following: The school’s responsibility of managing allergies within the school, what are the common allergies, understanding of anaphylaxis in children, the treatment of anaphylaxis and how to effectively manage allergies within the school.
Intended Outcomes:
At the end of the course, you will have an understanding of the following and be able to effectively manage Food Allergies within your school.
- The Schools Legal Duties - Food Safety legislation for food information on allergens;
- Identify the main 14 allergens which must be declared to consumers;
- Learn about the difference between food allergy and food intolerance are.
- Effects & Symptoms that food allergies and food intolerance have in the body;
- Anaphylactic reactions – What is an allergic reaction / Anaphylaxis;
- Effects & Symptoms that food allergies and food intolerance have in the body;
- Understanding anaphylaxis in children;
- The Treatment of Anaphylaxis;
- What to do after an allergic reaction;
- Anaphylaxis Management in Schools - Managing Food Allergens in schools
- Understand the importance of your school food allergen controls.

This course is designed for all staff that work in the education sector.

The Cost:
This course is available as part of our eLearning annual licence which includes unlimited access to the full Health and Safety eLearning Library for £1,385 plus VAT per annum.
Alternatively, if your school subscribes to our annual Health and Safety Support Service, you will receive access to our entire health and safety eLearning library at no extra cost.
Assessment:
Each delegate will be required to undertake a 10-question exam. Candidates will receive a certificate upon successfully completing the course and passing the exam (80%).
CPD:
Upon successful completion of the course learners will be issued a CPD accredited certificate to download. The course equates to 1 hour of CPD.
