TRA and DBS Referrals Demystified: Navigating Disciplinary Processes

About this event

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) handle referrals to ensure safeguarding, particularly in environments involving children and vulnerable adults.

In 2022-2023, the DBS received 9,854 referrals regarding individuals potentially posing risks to vulnerable groups and in the same period the TRA received 989 referrals for teacher misconduct.

This Safeguarding and Employment Law and HR Sofa Session will explore the disciplinary procedures associated with DBS and TRA referrals, using real-world examples to clarify and simplify the complexities of the process.

During the session we will be discussing the following:

            • An overview of the disciplinary process
            • Criteria for referrals to the TRA and/or DBS
            • Scenarios to bring the advice to life
