Accident Reporting and Investigation

About this event

Accidents in schools can range from slips, trips, and falls to injuries during PE and even accidents related to science experiments or other hands-on subjects.

In the UK, schools reported an estimated 50,000 non-fatal injuries to workers annually, and RIDDOR reports show approximately 1,700 serious accidents involving children in schools.

Schools are obligated to report severe accidents under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR). This includes incidents leading to fractures, amputations, or hospital admissions for pupils, as well as injuries preventing staff from working for seven days or more.

With so many accidents occurring it is vital to know which incidents require reporting and investigating, and how to do this effectively.

During the session we will be looking at:

    • Practical guidance on accident reporting: what, when, and how

    • Step-by-step approach to effective accident investigation
    • Real-world examples to improve your procedures
    • Let us introduce you to this week's professional speaker
