Data Protection
Handling Subject Access Request Redactions, Exemptions and Manifestly Unfounded/Excessive Requests
Subject Access Requests are becoming more commonplace. Of schools surveyed, Judicium Education found 51% have received between 1 and 4 requests while 46% received more than 5 since 2018.
Handling them can be time consuming, especially when a large amount of data is requested.
Knowing what to redact, which data is exempt and when you can refuse a request can turn a difficult SAR into a manageable task.
We will take you through these tricky to navigate areas of data subject access requests:
During the session we will be looking at:
- When and how to make redactions
- Exemptions to completing a SAR and how they are applied
- Situations where requests can be viewed as manifestly unfounded/excessive and be refused
