Safeguarding
Early Help
Child neglect is the most prevalent form of child maltreatment in the UK, with an estimated one in 10 young adults having been severely neglected by parents or guardians during childhood (‘Child abuse and neglect in the UK today’ NSPCC, 2011).
While early intervention cannot solve every problem, it can substantially improve children’s lives if it is delivered to a high standard to the families who need it the most.
Furthermore, Keeping Children Safe in Education sets out that all staff should be prepared to identify children who may benefit from early help.
But are all of your staff aware of early help and the processes to access it?
During the session we will be discussing the following:
-
- What is early help?
- Mapping the early help provision locally including SEND services.
- How best to signpost parents to early help.
- Training staff to have an understanding of the early help offer locally.
