Safeguarding & Data Protection: Golden Rules for Safeguarding and Data Sharing

About this event

In recent years, safeguarding concerns in UK schools have seen a significant rise. A survey by the NSPCC and NASUWT revealed that 93% of teachers observed an increase in safeguarding referrals within their schools, with 87% noting a rise in neglect cases.

Additionally, government data indicates that between 2020-21 and 2021-22, there was a 59% increase in safeguarding referrals and re-referrals made by schools in England to children's services.

These statistics underscore the critical importance of effective data sharing and management in safeguarding practices.

So how do we share this data safely? Join us on the sofa as we look at our Golden Rules for Safeguarding and Data Sharing.

During the session we will be discussing the following:

          • Guidance on sharing safeguarding data and concerns
          • Retention rules
          • Managing SARs in relation to safeguarding and considering exemptions
