Safeguarding: Analysing Ofsted Inspections When Safeguarding is Ineffective

About this event

A looming Ofsted inspection often leaves many school leaders with trepidation, but learning from past failings is a great step towards preparation.

In the 2022/23 school year Ofsted graded 64 schools as ineffective for safeguarding - an increase on the previous year.

Research highlighted that failing an inspection can bring detrimental effects that contribute to a downward performance spiral over time.

So what can we take away from previous inspections to ensure your school or Trust doesn’t succumb to this cycle?

During the session we will be discussing the following:

          • The key findings from Ofsted inspection reports where safeguarding has been judged to be “not effective."
          • The reasons for “not effective” safeguarding which are frequently noted in inspection reports.
          • Practical steps to take away from previous findings.
