COSHH - Beyond the Cleaning Cupboard and Science Department
Whether it’s the cleaning products in the school kitchen, the chemicals in the science lab or in the D&T workroom, hazardous substances are both a necessity and a risk.
COSHH stipulates that employers have a duty to control substances with potential health hazards. Schools use these potentially harmful substances in various forms, which pose risks to students, employees, contractors, or visitors within a school environment.
Managing your COSHH is essential and keeping all staff trained and following the steps put in place by effective risk assessments is imperative.
During the session we will be looking at:
- What does COSHH apply to?
Who should be completing COSHH Assessments? Reviewing who holds the responsibility for assessing the risks and what makes them competent to do so.- How do we complete an assessment? Discussing what the process involves and how a review process is implemented.
