Accident Reporting and Investigation

About this event

Accidents in schools happen more often than we’d like—from slips and trips to incidents in PE or science labs. According to UK reports.

In the UK, schools reported an estimated 50,000 non-fatal injuries to workers annually, and RIDDOR reports show approximately 1,700 serious accidents involving children in schools.

Knowing how to handle these incidents effectively isn’t just best practice—it’s a legal requirement.

Schools are obligated to report severe accidents under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)

Whether you’re a school leader, health and safety lead, business manager, or safeguarding officer, we'll equip you with the tools to know which incidents require reporting and how to conduct an effective investigation.

During the session we will be looking at:

    • Practical guidance on accident reporting: what, when, and how

    • Step-by-step approach to effective accident investigation
    • Real-world examples to improve your procedures
    • Let us introduce you to this week's professional speaker
